Viktor and Rolf for Paris Fashion Week by Studio Job
Echoing the acclaimed Russian Doll collection, Viktor & Rolf created a 'Glamour Factory' for their Paris Fashion Week show with the industrial backdrop designed again in collaboration with Studio Job.
Viktor and Rolf explained their concept for the show: “We wanted to show that the Viktor & Rolf fashion house is a 'Glamour Factory' where we produce clothes with a little bit of magic. We feel like the modern Willy Wonkas of the fashion world. We need that magic touch in the clothes – that’s what makes it into fashion for us.” Studio Job explained more: “Specially for the occasion, Nynke transformed the (Industry) pattern into a more theatrical, 3D form that reminded us slightly of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis. Together with Viktor & Rolf we decided to totally wrap the giant catwalk and backdrops with more than 1000 m2 of ‘Industry!’ It was pleasant to see how this architectural scene was absorbed by the glamour of the fashion industry.”

Tom Ford's "A Single Man"
Although fashion and film have always been closely intertwined, Tom Ford may be the first fashion designer to cross over to the role of filmmaker.
The leading fashion designer best known for his designs in luxury clothing, accessories, fragrance and cosmetics, that gained international fame for his turnaround of the Gucci fashion house and the creation of the Tom Ford label made his film directorial debut with A Single Man.
His debut feature, reflects his immaculate sense of style. But its story, a melancholy tale of a day in the life of a middle-aged college professor (Colin Firth) who is still mourning the unexpected death of his longtime lover Jim (Matthew Goode), is a far cry from the sex-saturated tableaus that Ford created for the fashion world.
A Single Man is nominated for the Oscars for Best Actor (Colin Firth).

VitraHaus, Weil am Rhein, Germany, by Herzog and de Meuron, for Vitra.
VitraHaus by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, has recently opened at the Vitra Campus. VitraHaus joins two other buildings in this area, the Vitra Design Museum by Frank Gehry (1989) and the Conference Pavilion by Tadao Ando (1993). The concept of the VitraHaus connects two themes that appear repeatedly in the oeuvre of Herzog & de Meuron: the theme of the archetypal house and the theme of stacked volumes.
